One of our favourite American designer brands are heading to the UK. Opening Ceremony are opening up a shop in Covent Garden. You may recall our excitement when Opening Ceremony collaborated with House of Hackney and Chloe Sevigny last year. The store will be located on King Street and is opening in July just in time for the Olympics.

THE STYLE COLLECTION FROM WINDOWS

Last week we were invited along to Paramount for an event hosted by fashion blogger Poppy Dinsey  and Windows to showcase the latest collection from Windows 7.  The 'Spring Collection' of laptops have been chosen because of their features, operating systems and design.

Windows created the collection to make the process of buying a laptop easier for people who didn't know which one to choose and found Sales Assistants in certain stores unhelpful and unknowledgable....us included. We were once talked into buying a laptop which, granted was cheap but is absolutely useless!

The Collection is Microsoft’s top picks, a selection of the top 25-30 PCs across five categories – mobile, entertainment, gaming, professional and everyday – covering a range of different price points. We viewed a selection of the PC's, our favourite was definitely the Asus Zenbook UX21 which is available in Rose Gold, uber light and has a huge battery life.

Priced at £757 it's not cheap but it's worth the pennies!

BUY MY WARDROBE...

Buy My Wardrobe returns next month with another opportunity for you to get your hands on pre-loved designer items from the people on the inside. These are hand-me-downs with a difference, unlike other second-hand or vintage sales, these are straight from the wardrobes of fashion industry insiders, ladies who lunch and high flying professionals – all clothes are vetted to make sure they are in excellent condition. The event takes place at 20th Century Theatre, with a VIP Champagne preview hour where shoppers get to beat the crowds and shop before anyone else. Styling and grooming experts and alteration specialists will be on hand to offer advice and ensure you don't leave with an outfit you'll never wear.

VIP Tickets cost £20 and standard tickets are a mere £5.

ONE AMAZINGS DAY

Remember those awesome days you used to spend with your grandparents when you were young? Those days during the summer holidays bonding with them, learning from them and hopefully picking up a few life skills on the way? Well if you do and you want to relive those days or even if you don't and you feel like you've missed out you can get the experience for one day on with The Amazings, a group of older people with skills honed over a lifetime that they can share with you.

On Saturday 28th April, they will be hosting a workshop experience where you can learn skills such as wild cooking, glass painting and cutting, knitting or wallet making. A £45 ticket entitles you to choose two of these sessions and includes lunch, drinks and any materials you may use, with the session lasting from 11am to 3.30pm.

Based on City Road, it's just a short walk from Old Street station (we're not going to make the pun, we're better than that), and should be a great chance to meet some very interesting and different people that we otherwise may not have the chance to.

Saturday 28th April, 11am - 3:30pm

SECRET 7"

Record Store Day is coming up soon, and one group of artists is doing something rather special to mark the occasion and to raise money for a very worthy charity. The Secret 7" project will be popping up in Idea Generation Gallery in Shoreditch between Wednesday 18th to Sunday 22nd April to celebrate the art of the vinyl single and to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Seven artists have provided songs that will be pressed to limited edition vinyl and each will be housed in sleeves designed by celebrated visual artists. The designs will be inspired by the tracks and demonstrate how different people interpret the tracks in different ways. The event will feature songs from The Cure, Florence and the Machine, Bombay Bicycle Club, DJ Shadow, CSS, Noah and the Whale and Ben Howard with all seven being interpreted by over 100 artists, making over 700 designs in total.

Each of the designs is available to own in exchange for a minimum donation of £40 to the Teenage Cancer Trust but we encourage you to dig deep and give more if you can for this very important charity. Every penny goes to the charity, so every little helps. Although the collection is available to view from Wednesday 18th (10am - 6pm), the sale starts on Record Day itself, Saturday 21st. Dig deep - not only will you get to own a unique work of art but your donations will also help change someone's life.

BESPOKE DR MARTENS...

If you also missed out then you may want to listen up now... Dr Martens have just launched their very own customisation service offering a bespoke design on the linings, eyelets, trims, laces, stitching and outsoles as well as the choice of leather the boots are made from. No more worrying about whether or not someone will be wearing the same shoes as you my friend!

PRODUCT LOVE: FUSHI....

We have to admit we're always a bit sceptical of products which claim to get rid of cellulite, wrinkles, stretch marks etc, etc but we were pleasantly surprised with the results from Fushi Cellulite Oil.  Fushi's "Really Good Cellulite Oil" contains Gotu Kola, one of the super herbs which is known for its circulatory benefits, diuretic Green Coffee, Wheatgerm oil, vitamin E, sweet birch and grapefruit oil.

We've been applying the oil twice a day, once in the morning and once at night and scrubbing our bottoms in the shower too and we have to say we have actually noticed a difference. Our backside is definitely firmer and smoother - even the boyf agrees.

The oil costs £19.95 for a 100ml which is pretty good value. Just be careful when applying as it comes out pretty fast and oil on a cream carpet isn't good!
